  1. While the cold months make everyone feel better, it makes me feel the opposite. The summer heat makes me happy, and makes me feel like myself. I want to go outside more. I hang out with my friends more often and I’m just overall pretty happy. In the winter though it’s like a switch has turned. I feel sad, I never go outside. I pretty much lock myself in my room and bundle up. The brighter and hotter it is, the happier I am.

  2. Most people hate when the the temperature starts to drop. I love when I when I have to put on a sweatshirt or blankets. Or drink some hot chocolate while watching some football or basketball. Which brings me to my favorite part about winter. Football hits it's peak at the start of winter, and that is where it gets interesting. I love watching Peyton Manning playing in 5 degree weather with snow all over the field. And when winter starts, basketball starts which makes winter even better. Though I can't run around or sit by the pool, I can still enjoy winter in a different way.

    1. I agree that football is one of the best things about the fall and winter seasons.

    2. I like the way you connected winter with more than just the weather, makes the response very relatable. Ironically i enjoy Winter in similar ways, I just like to watch Colin Kaepernick instead.

    3. I like how you incorporated football into this along with winter and cold weather. I like how you enjoy it in a different way than summer.

  3. I have to admit, like most stereotypical teenagers, I'm pretty partial to the warm summer months spent drinking in the sunshine and feeling relaxed and free being away from school and responsibilities. But there are a lot of aspects of fall and winter that I do love, like the sound of red and orange leaves crunching under your boots as you walk pleasantly through the park in the cool autumn air and warm sunshine. I love the way that families start to grow closer and people have something to look forward to with the holidays drawing nearer and nearer. I love the way snowflakes fall gently on the ground and windows and the look of untouched snow in your backyard and around your neighborhood when you first wake up on a snow day morning. I love the way my friends and family's eyes light up when they tear open their gifts on Christmas morning. But most of all, I love the fact that Hallmark Christmas movies start playing on October 31 :)

    1. I agree with you; though it rarely happens in Alabama, I love it when you wake up and there is undisturbed snow. You did a really good job of listing the more meaningful aspects of fall and winter.

    2. I like the sensory sound that you associate with the crunching of leaves. The is very relatable, especially in Alabama. I also like the closeness of family that occurs over this season and agree with the joy Christmas music brings.

    3. I have to say that I really like how you worded everything and you definatly captured the essence of fall but i don't agree with summer being the best time of the year since i love the cold weather:) But overall i totally agree with how you said that the cold season brings families together and the hallmark part:) I love how christmas movies and music start to begin after Oct. 31

  4. I personally love every season. I think there are a lot of great things about every season but there are also some negative. Like in spring all the plants start to grow back, but then allergies start to attack you and that kind of sucks. In summer you have a break from school and get to go get tan, only some of us don't tan and we burn and smell like aloe vera for a week. In fall all the good smelling candles come out and then you can get a pumpkin spice latte and the world starts spinning, and you get chapped lips and a runny nose. Then in winter its freezing but you get to pull out your sweaters, boots, and scarves and thats pretty fun (in a girls POV). So I can understand people who get depressed if they love just one season and the rest are terrible, but there are a lot of great things that go hand in hand with some of the not so great things about seasonal change. It's kind of a yin-yang type of deal. But its your preferece as to which season makes you happy or sad.

  5. Fall is my favorite season. I don’t really care for hot weather, wearing tank tops, and going outside and getting a tan. I prefer the cool weather, wearing sweaters, and staying inside and watching a movie. I like it when the weather outside feels just right, not too cold, not too hot. I like when the leaves change colors and fall to the ground. I love to go winter shopping and buy new boots and sweaters, and its the perfect weather for sweatpants and t-shirts. I love sitting by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate in the morning when we don’t have school. Fall just feels like a relaxing and refreshing season. - Stephanie Peters 2nd Period

  6. During the winter, when the temperature is at its lowest and sunlight is minimal, my feelings change just like Jack's. I begin to feel more energetic and my desire to stay indoors increases. I have an overall increase in happiness, unlike in the summer. The heat during the summer blinds me in a way and is a detriment to my general enthusiasm. I am always easily irritated during the summer and my energy decreases. I feel lazy and unable to do tasks that may require too much work. The middle of winter is definitely my favorite time of the year.

  7. I don't really like one season over another like these people with SAD. Now if we could have a week of warm weather, and then a week of cold weather and keep it in a pattern like that, that would be great because I do think I get bored of the summer after a while, and same with Winter.

I agree that during the winter people get calmer and more tired. This may be because of the sudden chill and darkness. During the summer, everyone is energetic and playful because of the sun’s appearance. Perhaps since the sun isn’t out as much during the winter, people may lack vitamin D which makes them not as energetic. To me, winter and summer are both enjoyable in their own way. I like winter for it’s cold and calming weather and I like summer for it’s fun and playful weather as well.

  9. I think the change of seasons is a good thing because it would be really hard to live in a place where it is always hot. In my opinion, i think the winter season is the best because i prefer having the weather cold not hot. I like it because i will get to stay in my house more and have some time with my family. I also like the cold weather because i like wearing sweatshirts and drink hot chocolate while playing video games with my brother.

  10. My favorite season is winter for many reasons. Some people say that warm, summer temperatures make them feel happier but I prefer the climate and aspects of winter. I like how It signals that many good things are coming - a break from school, the holidays, and the end to the year. Not to mention that two of my favorite holidays are in the winter - Christmas and my birthday. In my opinion, the other seasons are alright and I definitely don't mind them but I'd take winter over all of them any day.

  11. I guess there's negative and positive things about both winter and summer. However after reading this article I even more realized why I love the winter. First of all who doesn't love a cup of steamy hot chocolate, or a pumpkin spice Starbucks while reading a book, watching your favorite Christmas movie or maybe some Auburn football! I also love winter because of all the holidays. The holidays make people crazy but at the same times brings out a better side in most people. That is not something you get to see all the time. It gets dark earlier and that makes me tired so I go to bed earlier and get more sleep. Then when I wake up its bright and sunny instead of grey. The cold may not be the best thing but seeing the gorgeous snowflakes makes it worth it.

  12. Some people don't like the winter season. They get lazy, because the sun goes down earlier. Some people are SAD, seasonal affective disorder, meaning they like summer a lot more than winter. While some people love the cold, winter days, others are resenting it. In the summer, more people are outside and love to run around in the sun. Other people would rather be in the cold, winter season wrapped in a blanket and drinking hot chocolate. Summer is a more social season, because everyone is out and playing in the hot air. Winter is less social, because people are typically inside, staying warm. I, personally, like winter much more than summer. I can wear sweats and relax. But in the winter, running is fairly awful. Running is bad alone, but then you have to run in way too many layers, then you get hot, and then cold, and then hot, and then cold. And it gets dark very quick. Still, winter is way better than summer. I have an excuse to stay inside and not talk to people. :)

  13. I have always loved the winter season. Why do I love the winter season? Because it's Christmas time! During the first two months of winter my family celebrates Christmas in the best ways. We go to movies, We go out to eat, We decorate the tree, We play board games, we sit around the fire place, we watch Christmas movies, we go see Santa at the mall, and we do everything as a family. Winter always brings my family closer together and brings happiness to all of us. Ever since I was little winter has always brought me a warm and happy feeling that I can only get during this one season and no other.

  14. Unlike most kids, my favorite season is Winter, its just something about the cold weather that makes me love it so much. I love the thought of snow and drinking hot chocolate and spending time with family over holidays. I mean summer is great too but i just love Winter for some reason. Not all things in winter excites me, like when its too cold to go outside and do fun stuff because you might get a cold, or how you have to dress like you live in Alaska because its way too cold for summer clothes, but there are some pretty great things to winter like i love the snow and Winter break so i can sleep in all day. I guess the colder it is outside, the happier i am inside my house by the fire. -Emily Murphy 2nd period

  15. When I stepped into the car after a long day, the only thing on my mind, was the darkness. It was pitch black outside, and it was only 6:30! On the radio the only thing you could hear was “Remember to set your clocks back and enjoy an extra hour of sleep!” Daylight savings time has arrived. I arrived home with a happy sparkle in my eye, since the transition between Fall and Winter is my favorite. I walked into the house as my couch embraced me with open hearts. I dive into the couch as the warmth of the blankets engulfed me. I then sat down and watched me and my dad’s favorite show, Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. As I cozied up watching the show, happiness flowed through my body, for it was my favorite time of the year. As I was enjoying the warmth of the couch, the world around me was changing. The hands of time were moving backwards, darkness began to stretch out. The couch then nurtured me into a nap. When I awoke from the nap, I slowly walked to my room. The hardwood floor stung my bare feet with its cool chill. When I reached my room, I jumped into my bed with a wide grin. My favorite time of the year was here!

  16. I like the winter because it is cozy. Maybe it subconsciously makes me depressed, but I’d prefer not to think of it that way. Winter means basketball. Winter means birthday. Winter means Christmas. Going outside and feeling the cold is relaxing. You get to wear warm clothes, be with your family, and drink hot chocolate. I love the summer too, because you can play basketball outside all day. But the winter (and fall) is special. You get to relax. The winter makes me feel like myself. It makes me more thoughtful. Seeing all the bare trees and watching old Christmas movies is just unbeatable.

  17. I love the winter because my mom stops telling me that I need to go outside more and there are far less bugs outside. I also love winter because of how beautiful it is when it snows or when the sky is dark. In the winter there are a lot more sales so I get cool things. In the summer when you are hot you can't do anything, in the winter when you are cold, just get more blankets or were another jacket.

  18. While I love the relaxation of summer, I am not a fan of being hot. I love when the seasons change and it finally gets cold because that means I can make some hot chocolate and curl up by the fireplace. I love the winter because that means that Christmas is coming and Christmas movies will begin to make their way onto ABC family. Winter is a time for family. We always have huge family gatherings during the winter (many of them) and being surrounded by those who love me is one of my favorite things. My favorite part about winter is competition season. For cheer, we practice all summer and then, starting with meet the tribe on November 2nd, competition season begins! This is definitely in my top 3 favorite things about winter because cheer is something that I devote most of my time to and something that makes me smile so hard my cheeks hurt when I think about it. I am a lover of winter because I love wearing huge sweatshirts and making smores with friends. I love singing (quite badly) Christmas carols at the top of my lungs with my loved ones. Winter is an all around time of joy that is ultimately the happiest time of the year for me.

  19. My favorite time of the year is fall. I love the colors of the leaves as they begin to fall. There is a crisp cool breeze in the air almost constantly. The houses suddenly get warmer and people become nicer. I love the sound the sound of fallen leaves crunching beneath my feet. You get to eat soup, chili, corn bread, and mashed potatoes. You can drink a warm cup of hot chocolate while sitting by a fire. You get to see all of your family and eat the best homemade food on thanksgiving. Suddenly even though the weather is cold everything seems cozier. Those are the reasons I love fall.

You can curl up in blankets, enjoy the holidays, and maybe play in the snow. However, the same goes for summer. I enjoy having a long break from school, going to beach, and relaxing. I feel like adapting to the season is a little hard to deal with, but I do enjoy a change every once and a while.

  22. In response to this article, I’m feeling I’m kind of wavering towards preferring winter/ fall over summer for reasons that are hard to put into words. I guess I feel like I’ve always been a person that like snuggling up in blankets to drink hot chocolate by the fire after a long day of being outside in the cold, or maybe its just because of the ‘warm’ feelings holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving bring. It could also have to do with the fact of what I long to experience in a winter- Snow. Even though we had a “snowpocalypse” last year, I wasn’t really able to experience the more positive aspects of what snow can bring. Mostly, everyone was worried about getting home and unfreezing the roads and such, so I wasn’t really able to enjoy it as much as I would’ve wanted to. I guess I’m dreaming of a white Christmas- or like the one Ralphie wakes up to in “The Christmas Story.” I have to say, though, even if I never see a white Christmas in my life because of the odds of that happening in Alabama, I’m pretty happy with wearing boots and sweatshirts to escape the cold.

  23. Personally the warmth of summer is much more comfortable to me than the cold of fall and winter, but I like the fall and winter Months better. I like fall and winter months better because that is the time when all of my favorite holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas happen. Although most kids prefer summer because of summer break, I like when school is in session because school is where most of my friends are. I love fall and winter not because of the cold, but because of all the holidays that happen during this time, and also because I get to see all of my friends I did not get to see over the summer.

  24. There are good things about summer and good things about winter. I like both seasons but the one I like more is definitely summer. In summer you get to go outside more because it is not freezing cold outside like in the winter. I am definitely someone who likes the heat better than the cold. Sometimes fall and spring have good weather too, but summer is the best. During the winter it is hard to run in the cold and I have to go to track practice every day. I do like staying inside drinking hot chocolate and watching movies, but after a while I feel like I would rather be outside being active. Another great thing about winter is about Christmas and all the fun things that go along with it like decorating the tree and getting presents. Even though there are great things about both of these seasons I would still say I like summer better.

  25. I do not like winter because it is very cold in the mornings. Waking up for school during winter is terrible for me because it is so cold I do not want to get out of the covers. Then whenever I have to take a shower I do not want to take my pajamas off. When I finally get in the shower I do not want to get out of the shower because the water is so warm. Then I have to wait for my bus outside and freeze because of the low temperatures and wind. Also I love going to the beach and you can not go to the beach during winter. The only reason I like winter is because it is when my birthday takes place and Christmas is also during winter. Christmas break is also one of the only reasons I like winter.

  26. I love the winter. Winter is my favorite season, because it means I get to sit at home and drink hot chocolate. It also means Chrismas! I love spending time with my family. Loving winter doesn't mean I hate summer. I just don't enjoy being hot all the time. I like having and playing outside, but nothing beats getting presents. I do understand why people would get sad though. Sitting at home all the time in the winter might get boring and depressing. Also, burning up all the time in the summer might cause problems too. While many people like the warmer conditions to go to the beach and such, I would rather just lay in my bed. During the winter, I am tired after the first semester, and am able to regenerate my energy for the second semester. I also love the feel on having a sweatshirt on and having a blankets wrapped tightly around me. Along with this, I especially love Christmas time. I enjoy the decorations, the food, the shopping, and just the season in general. Overall, winter is the season in which I feel the most comfortable.

  28. Personally, the winter months are my favorite because it's the only time we get to head up to Tennessee to visit the rest of my family. That's the main reason I love the winter, but there are so many other things I love about the season. For one, I love drinking hot coffee, and in the summertime it's hard to even think about a hot drink without sweating bullets. So, I usually drink iced coffee and it's just not the same as a nice, steaming cup of coffee. Also, I love being able to go outside in jeans and a sweatshirt and being able to see my breath in the air when I breathe. I love getting super excited about even the tiniest chance because it almost never snows here. And when it does snow, I love the fact that everyone drops whatever they're doing just to go and play in one inch of snow. Last but not least, anything and everything about Christmas puts the winter season on the top of my list.

  30. I like the winter better than summer for various reasons. I am a big book reader, so I love being able to curl up with a book, a blanket, and a cup of hot chocolate and reading for hours at a time. My family likes to go hiking and camping and so fall and winter are the best seasons to go. In the winter, I can go on a walk, get lost in my thoughts, and realize that I have been gone for two or three hours instead of thirty minutes. I think that my favorite thing about winter is it always feels so peaceful. In the winter, there is of course Christmas and New Year's. All in all, some of my best memories take place in the winter.

  31. I can relate to the first portion of the article in that I used to dread the winter. It always felt as if the feeling of isolation and emptiness would come extra strong with the freezing temperatures and heavy winds. I despised it. However, I now find myself eagerly welcoming the once spurned weather. It was an abrupt and unexpected change of heart, and surprisingly it was the little things that finally won me over. For instance, the jingles of the Salvation Army bells, the Christmas music played throughout department stores, and even the Toys-for-Tots donation boxes placed at the strangest places. Nevertheless, I have come to embrace winter, even with its horrid weather and excessive cheeriness. I am looking forward to the fun things this season will bring.

The warm sun on the back of my neck as I plant my seeds gives me a reason to plant. I can hear the birds chirp as they fly overhead, singing the sweet morning song. I only hope they don’t come after my seeds. I think of the fall when the fruits of my labor will be evident and I can go from the humble gardener to the simple chef, turning spring pleasure into winter joy. The blue sky, not a cloud in sight, gives me hope for the coming year. The green grass tells me to relax and enjoy the beauty that comes with my spring.

  33. I feel that Fall is the best season of the year. I believe this because the cool weather is more relaxing and it gives my mom a good reason to buy more hot chocolate which i drink in front of the t.v. while playing board games or just talking to family. I also love Fall because it allows me to relax more and not have to worry about anything. I even take out my headphones every day after i get of the bus so i can hear the soft winds and the crunch of freshly fallen leaves under my feet. I love watching each leaf race another on the journey to the ground and all the multiple colored trees around me makes it feel like a dream these are just some of the reasons why I love Fall.

  34. For some reason, I like warm weather more than cold weather, but some of my worst times and experiences come during the warm weather, and when it is cold I feel relaxed even though I do not like it cold. I guess I would say the fall months are my favorite because they are chilly and not too cold, so I can get outside with my friends, my parents, and even my dog and just relax with them and enjoy the weather. I actually used to hate the cold, but then, when I actually stayed in the cold for an extended amount of time, I became used to it, and it started to grow on me. I can certainly say I do not have that disorder because I have never lost weight in warm weather, wanted to commit suicide in warm weather, or felt depressed in any weather. After that, I can say I am looking forward to great times with friends and family outside during the fall months.

  35. With standard time back in action, the whole world should be rejoicing about this wonderful time of year. Why you ask, the answer is simple. People get more sleep now! Let's say you are getting up for school or your job, surprise, you get to sleep in one more hour. Want to go out to eat? You have one more hour in your day to do so. Do you have homework? Now you have one more hour to procrastinate. For all the people who say that they don't like the winter month's, well they can snuggle up inside with their fuzzy socks and avoid their responsibility for one more hour and complain about the winter months. Standard time should be all the time.

  36. I love winter when it is dark and you can curl up with a blanket and relax. Its is a good feeling when you come when you come home after a long run and your mom is baking, and the fire is going. You feel so relaxed. The summer time is nice but the heat can be unbearable. Its feels so good when you are walking at night in the winter and the wind is blowing at your hair. You can be all bundled up and just enjoy the beauty around you. When I lived in Ohio my mom and I would walk at night during the winter and enjoy the snow on the ground, the little animals getting ready to settle for the night, and seeing Christmas lights all set up. There is so much to see in the winter. One a the best seasons would be fall because you are so tired of the heat from summer so you can get a break. And when the leaves change. How cool is that to see. Fall and winter are a good time of the year. I can't wait to see what the winter holds this year.

  37. Winter in my opinion is the best time of the year from warm leather winter boots and knit scarves to snuggling around the fire with family and friends with warm cup of hot chocolate.Thanksgiving is around the corner and just thinking about all the great gifts that we usually take for granted, and getting to see their loving families, who are usually out of town, and getting so much food makes people happy. But Christmas is by far the best part about winter, not just for the presents, because it is like our whole world transforms and decorates with beautiful lights, and there is happy music everywhere, and people are more joyful, and all worries just seem to disappear around those December weeks. So all people are entitled to their opinion of their favorite seasons, but my personal favorite season is Winter.

  39. Honestly speaking, I feel that winter/fall is the best time of the year. I just love how it gets colder each day and the wintery season brings out the best colors of nature. I love the sweater weather because no matter how cold it may be outside, you can wear as many layers as you want, whereas in the summer, its the total opposite. I feel that winter is the best time of the year because of the holidays! It does bring families closer. The cold weather brings out the perfect reddish and orangish colors on the leaves. Then when you step on the leaves, it makes that crunchy sound that makes me feel that it really is autumn. I love how you can just take a warm shower and have a nice cup of rich hot chocolate. The great thing about winter is that I can finally wear boots! I love the holidays soo much because not only can I watch christmas or halloween movies on tv but we can see our frosty breath in the air. When it snows, I love the snowfall of snowflakes gently touching your windows. The holiday season also brings out the best in people. I can't wait for this holiday season to come and for my birthday to roll in on December.

  41. Like the article says, different people enjoy different seasons. While I love the holidays, cozy sweaters, and Christmas music, during the winter months, I find myself missing the long days spent with my family at the lake in the summer. The memories made under the sun during these months are the memories that will last a lifetime. Most of my days in the summer are spent at the lake, a relaxed, family environment in which life lessons and incredible moments take place. The moments spent talking about life with my sisters on the water, the moments of competing with my brothers, and the nights on the porch laughing with my whole family have had a huge impact on who I am today. Moments like these happen daily in the summer, and for this reason, I love the season over the the winter.

  42. I feel like I relate to the second half of the article. Cold months are my favorite months becasue I love the sweaters, boots, coffee, books. I love nature in the winter. The dead leaves on the ground that crunch when you walk on them, and the bare trees.
I realize that I actually walk around outside more when its cold than when its hot. Cold wheather clears my mind and lets my mind wander. I was born in December so I have always loved snow and cold temperatures. I enjoy reading, but I realize I really only read optionally during cold months when im wrapped up in a blanket, with my coffee, and a fireplace.

Christmas music, thanksgiving ,family. The day you wake up and you feel as if your going to be late fore something and realize the time has changed. Yay an extra hour of sleep but then you think about it. Eww and extra hour of school.

  44. I enjoy winter much more than summer for many reasons. I love the brisk air and serene atmosphere of winter. Some may say that it is depressing because it gets darker earlier, but I enjoy that aspect of the winter season. Nighttime just seems very magical to me and I've always been intrigued by it. I enjoy hot tea and the cold weather is perfectly complementary for that. Also, being an Alabamian, any time it snows is a rare and exciting occasion. Also I associate a lot of happy memories with the winter season. The fondness and sense of family during Thanksgiving, the excitement leading up to Christmas, and the feeling of restoration and hope during New Years. To sum it all up, winter just emits a sense of homeliness inside of me, that is not rivaled by any other season.

  45. I am the type of person who can not stand the winter months. I am a person who gets cold very quickly and during this season, I have to wear many layers of clothing just to stay warm. I have to wake up for school in the mornings to go to school and it is very cold in the house. I get very sick and start to have asthma attacks when the season changes, especially in the winter, and have to stay home with a space heater lying right next to me. However, when I start to hear Christmas songs, I think that all of that hatred goes away and I start liking winter. All of the gifts that I get to receive and give to friends and my or new families is amazing to think about. Even though I love the thought of Christmas and the New Year, my family always goes somewhere warm during the winter break. I have gone from Florida to Mexico just to stay warm. When we come back is the hard part because I have just adjusted to the warm weather and have to come back to the cold. There are some things that I kinda like about winter from the warm soups to the hot chocolate to the Christmas dinners.

  46. The First Hints of Winter

Crisp evenings clear enough to see crystalline stars so far away,
the smell of firewood through the neighborhood
    - that jealous scent -
wishing I had a fire already blazing
    to welcome me home.
Snuggling, warm hugs, coffee in hand
    People move closer
    because they have to,
and life goes on its path
    clear and bright this season.

  47. I do not have a favorite season. There are great things about every season and there are bad things about every season. The summer is a time of relaxation and freedom from responsibilities. All the free time leaves a lot of time for reflection. The fall is when sports and school are in full swing. Most people love fall, but fall is so stressful for me. It is usually the middle of the hardest semester and the end of cross country, which means qualifying races occur in this short time period. But once you get to winter, everything freezes for a few weeks. You are allowed to stay at home, bundled up, talking to family and friends who join you for Christmas. It is a time that you are surrounded by everyone you love and there isn't much responsibility for a little bit. During this time it can be cold, but where we live, December isn't really that cold. It still feels comfortable outside. After New Years, you have to return to the stress of school in the dead of winter. I hate February and March. The months are dull, boring and bitter cold. These months are right after a festive, exciting time and you feel so bored and sometimes sad. Winter can be depressing in comparison to spring, summer, and fall, but every season has its ups and downs.

  48. I love fall and winter. I love everything about it. I love the cold, the snow, the warm clothes, and the holidays. I love the feeling of walking into the warm, cozy house after being outside in the cold. It feels so welcoming and comfortable. I also love Christmas. They have already started playing Christmas music on the radio, and I love it. My mom hates it, but I think it is awesome. I love how family centered the holidays are at the end of the year. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love hanging out all day with my family and having a good time. Another reason I like the cold so much is because I hate summer and spring. I get really bad allergies, and it is very uncomfortable. It also gets too hot. In the colder seasons it is easier to breathe and the air does not seem so heavy. In the warmer seasons, though, the air is so hot it is almost suffocating, and the hot air is dreadful when you want to go outside. Winter and fall are also very beautiful. I love when all the leaves start changing and falling. I also like it when the trees are completely empty. It adds to the whole winter feel. It is very beautiful when it snows, as well. I like winter and fall a lot better than spring and summer for many reasons, but my favorite part are the memories made with my family and friends.

  49. For my whole life, I have loved every season. Many people love just one or two seasons because of drastic changes, but honestly, I find every season exciting because of change. First off, the ocean is my favorite place to be, and I go there frequently in the summer. In the fall, school begins, and even though most students probably are dreading the first day of school, I look forward to it. My favorite holiday, Christmas, is in the winter. I do not love this holiday because of the presents, but because of the joy it makes me feel when I come together with family. I hate the cold, but I do love the fires and hot chocolate that go along with it. Lastly, I always am excited about spring because after many months of chilly weather, the temperature finally starts to rise, and obviously, my friends and I are anxious for school to be over.

  50. This article goes to show how crazy things like time or weather can completely change people's feelings. For me, there are things that I like and dislike about each and every season. However, this right now may be my favorite time of the year because after months and months of Alabama heat and humidity it finally starts feeling cool out, and football is finally over so I can get home early and have plenty of time to balance homework and free time. As a huge college football fan, the sport gets very interesting when the calendar turns to November, and the buildup for holidays is very exciting. Not to mention and extra hour of sleep can never hurt. The article really makes you think, and in some ways, it is very interesting.

  51. I have mixed feelings about winter. I love how festive it is and all the holidays that occur in winter such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are so many things to be excited about. A new year is coming and you can just celebrate and have fun. However, there is a downside to winter. I get cold easily and in the mornings I am always freezing. I always get a cold around winter. But the part of winter where you can just stay inside and relax on school breaks makes up for that. Just the thought of drinking hot chocolate and watching a Christmas movie under warm blankets makes me happy.

  54. I personally love the winter months. Sitting the living room with my family, drinking hot chocolate with a fire warming the area feels great. Another reason I like winter is because of the snow! My sister and I love playing in the snow, throwing snow balls at each other and attempting to make a snowman. Christmas also makes winter a whole lot better. I love spending time with my friends and family, exchanging presents and watching Christmas movies. Walking around the neighborhood seeing all of the Christmas lights and decorations warms my heart. I also like being able to wear boots, scarfs and sweaters in the winter months. Nature looks beautiful in the winter. Everything is covered in the white snow and the dead leaves on the sidewalk are fun to crunch. Overall I love the feeling of warmness in the winter.

  55. I am a person who loves fall. I love watching Halloween movies at night in October, and carving pumpkins in the cool fall air. I like how in summer we are out of school, but I cannot stand the heat. I don't enjoy spring either because that's the time when my allergies start to act up. I dread waking up in the middle of the night in spring because my nose is stopped up so bad. In fall, I feel the most laid back. I can just step outside and instantly feel calm and happy. The fall leaves, the Thanksgiving dinner, and the start of basketball all make me the most happy during fall. It's also a time where there's an excuse to eat more. I don't want to sound cliché or anything, but I love to wake up on a fall morning, drink a cup of coffee, and watch the sunrise. That pretty much sums up why fall is by far my favorite season.

  56. There are many things I don't enjoy about winter, such as blistering winds and huge blizzards, but there are also things to like about it. I enjoy trying to stay warm around a fire listening to Christmas music on a cold December night. But I also enjoy flipping into pools and hanging out with friends without the worry of schoolwork in the summer. I feel that summer is more a time of being a teen and doing fun stuff while winter is more about the home and staying closer to family inside. Neither one is necessarily better, they're just two different parts of life that happen as the seasons differ. Which season you like better can just come down to who you are and what you like to do. I love to get warm under my covers reading an amazing book, but a good run outdoors and playing football at the park are fun too. Summer and Winter are 2 different parts of life that different people enjoy in different ways. There are different options to do and different benefits from those options. I personally would choose a chilly fall night to hang out and go see a movie as my favorite time of the year. Whatever you choose, there is nothing wrong with being anti-winter or summer.

  57. I really enjoy the winter months. I like when it gets cold and I can lay in bed under fleece blankets drinking hot chocolate or tea. I love Christmas time, the smell of Christmas trees and the fireplace burning. I like staying home from school on Christmas break, buying gifts for everyone. I love sitting with my family on Christmas Eve - playing games, eating, and just talking. I love seeing the joy on everyone's faces as they wake up on Christmas day, gathering around the presents under the Christmas tree. I love when it gets cold enough that it starts snowing. I enjoy going out into the snow and just walking in it, or having snowball fights with my siblings, or failing at building snowmen. I like staying up on New Year's Eve, celebrating the new year at midnight with my family. I like being in my room with my cat trying to get warm with me, listening to music or watching Netflix. I love the cold, crisp weather, when I can wear hoodies and sweatshirts. I love winter.

  58. New day, new knowledge. I'm content with both fall and summer. But here are a few of my favorite things about fall-- it's okay if you sang that. Leaves crunching underneath the soles of your shoes as the naked trees dance about in the gust. Warm colors soothe the soul. The sun warming your flesh from the winter chills. The smell of hot cocoa and pumpkins. Consumption of hot tea. Snuggling beside the people you love while wearing your favorite sweater. Honey ham and dressing. Laughter filling the atmosphere during Thanksgiving. Addams Family Marathon. People impatiently putting up the Christmas decorations. Night falls, meeting the evening, makes me quite possibly the happiest girl in the world. I've had a fascination with nighttime since before I could remember. Tunes of alternative music leaves the speakers of the record player, occupying the walls of my room.

The summer heat is not the only thing I enjoy, but the fact I do not have school is one of my top reasons to why I like the summer. Most swimming pools are full and everyone has a smile stuck on their faces. Summer is the time where I get to sit in nature and actually enjoy what I am reading, opposing to winter I do not have to hold my pages down in order to stop them from the wind.

  65. I enjoy fall for many reasons, but there is one reason that is above all else. This reason is football. Football is my most favorite sport of the year, and when the leaves start to fall its time to play some ball. Summer is truly the start of football with workouts and practice, but none of that compares to when you step on the field to play a game. Some of the other reasons I like fall is because the temperature is not cold, or hot. There are two major holidays in fall. These are Halloween and Thanksgiving. These are two fun holidays that I enjoy. Also I consider December to be part of fall because in Alabama you don't get to winter weather until January. Thus I consider Christmas part of fall, and my birthday. This is why I like fall the most.

  66. Honestly I don't like any of the seasons because I am either in pain or about to be in pain. The summer months make me burn easier and it's sometimes just way to hot to do anything. Most of the time I'm getting dehydrated from the Summer sun and it just doesn't feel good. other times I drink plenty of water, but the heat boils my stomach and what I had recently eaten. The Winter seasons thought have different effects that that give me pain. Around the time when the weather changes I start to get sick a lot. It especially starts bringing in the viral infections that my body can't deal with in the Winter. During these months I also dehydrate because I am much colder and have that feeling like I don't need water. If I didn't have any abnormal problems due to health in the seasons then I would probably admire them a little more, but for now if my body is not happy then I am not happy.

  67. I personally prefer fall and winter. I love the cold weather. Fall, especially, is my favorite. Everything about it is just calming and gives me a warm and happy feeling. The scenery outside is always beautiful. The trees only have a few leaves because most of them are on the ground. The color of the leaves are also very pretty. I love the feeling of stepping on them when I'm outside and just hearing the crunching sound. I love wearing sweaters and just laying in bed all day doing nothing. It gets dark pretty early so there's not much anyone can do outside. I’m not a big fan of spring and summer though. Spring is my least favorite season for two reasons: Bees/wasps and allergies. Summer is okay because I like the fact that school is out but I don’t like the hot weather. I prefer staying inside under a thick, fuzzy blanket sipping hot chocolate while watching movies during the winter. Basically when I think of winter, I think of Christmas time, which is my favorite holiday. I like staying in and watching all the ABC Family Christmas movies, no matter how cheesy they get. I also love the fact that it's finally acceptable to start listening to Christmas music again. I love going out and buying presents for everybody, even though I don’t have money. I also love receiving presents. My birthday also falls during the winter time, which is part of the reason I like it so much. There’s just something about fall and winter that makes me calm and happy.

I really think balling in the freezing air helps me keep my cool, as well as coming back in to my amazing mother's hot chocolate, real hot chocolate, is great. 70. The orange and yellow leaves atop the trees slowly fall to the ground as if they were tired of floating there by the limbs and wanted to finally touch the ground. The grass begins to wilt and brown and begin to disappear. The pumpkins come out, the kids say "trick-or-treat", and the whole family gathers around the dinner table to stuff their faces with turkey and pumpkin pie. Everyone is having fun, arguing over who will win the Iron Bowl. (Auburn of course.) Football season begins and all the kids are out playing football in the backyard with all the other kids in the neighborhood. Thanksgiving is amazing because food is amazing, and family of course. Halloween is the time when you get candy and eat it until you are sick. Fall brings all of the best holidays except Easter and Christmas. Christmas follows soon after so that is another plus to Fall, it means that Christmas is right around the corner. Fall is the only season when all three major american sports (football, baseball, and basketball) are all playing at once. Sports are one of my passions, so whenever I can play or watch them I am happy.

  72. I am not really fond of the Summer or Winter weather, because it is either really hot or extremely cold. Especially in Alabama, the weather gets crazy, one day it rains, one day it is cold, the other day it is hot, and it makes me sick. I favor the Spring, because it is in between cool and warm. It really does not matters to me; I make it work in any season. I like them all. I like winter because of Christmas, because that is my favorite holiday EVER. I get to decorate a Christmas tree, smell the fresh baked cookies, and open presents, and most of all be with my family. I like Summer because of the vacation we get from school. I think it is interesting that at least 1 of the 4 seasons make other people depressed and can have such severe effects on people, and maybe that is a field that I would like to study.

  73. For most kids in school, they love summer the most because of the relieved sensation of not being under the pressure of school, relaxed trips to the beach, and most of all, the typical summer days of not doing anything. However, for me, I love fall more than any other seasons. It is the end of the muggy, scorching, busy summer days, and the beginning of the joyful holiday season, the season of giving and family get-togethers. It is different than any other season, adding unique traits specific to itself. My favorite aspect of fall is the beautiful transformation of leaves. It is stunning to see the green in the trees shift into deep, true, jewel colors. It is a short pause in the seemingly never-ending normality of green (or dead) trees. Fall is my favorite time because it is a season of warmth, giving, beauty, and authenticity; gently leading to the merry Christmas season.

It is the perfect time for my generally pasty self to become a shade of red that has yet to be invented. The one occasion that I do enjoy summer is when I got to Lake Martin and swim and tube for hours. I think fall is the most beautiful season because of the changing leaves and the rainy days. I get a sense of relief and relaxation when I can get up to a warm home, drink piping hot coffee, and slip into a sweater, some boots, and a scarf. I love walking in the bitter cold and going into a building and unbundling. My body warms up but my nose is always as cold as it was outdoors. Also, the winter is when I bond with my family the most. We celebrate holidays and cook big dinners for each other, which I love. It gets dark so quickly, that everyone rushes home and my family find ourselves being in deep conversation with each other and being genuinely interested in what someone has to say. Winter really brings me closer to my family and allows me to wear cute clothes that have been in storage for some time. This is why I love winter and how I can relate to what the individuals said in the article.

  76. I love the fall season, I enjoy running outside while the leaves fall, and the silence of the fall comforts me. I also love sitting, watching football, and grilling outside while its not too cold. I also enjoy the vibrant colors of the falling leaves during the fall. Also, the chilly but not freezing temperature allows for calming bonfires, and relaxing under blankets with my family playing games. Also, one of my favorite holidays, Thanksgiving, occurs in the fall. That is why I adore the fall.

  77. Even though I have lived in South my entire life, I hate the hot and muggy weather that comes along with summer. I have always loved fall and everything that comes with it. Crisp fall air, sweaters and boots, leaves changing color, getting to lay in the hammock covered in blankets, hot tea, and listening to calm music are just a few things I love to do in the fall. I have had many fond memories of going to pumpkin patches, and fall retreat getaways with my youth group at Camp Worldsong during the fall are events that I look forward to every year. Fall gives me this security blanket as well, and I feel comforted and happy during this season. It’s hard to believe that a season would make you feel a feeling, but fall has and always will bring me happiness and warmth as the world prepares for winter.

  78. My favorite season is autumn. It’s so unpredictable- one week the days are hot and humid, the next frost is biting your toes as you get out of bed. You can enjoy a cool morning breeze and the warmth of the sun in the same day. You can run in the mornings without soaking yourself in sweat. It’s either raining, which is great, or sunny to the point you wish it weren’t, which is also somehow great. The smell of fall is one of my favorite smells in the world- it’s sharp, but not unpleasant. Fall is basically a combination of all the seasons, and that’s why its my favorite. I just love anything that any of the seasons bring to the table, so if I had to choose one, autumn would be the season I would choose.

  79. Being born in Colorado automatically made winter my favorite season. I remember the feeling of waking up in the morning and looking out the window and seeing all of the white. I remember the rush of excitement as I pictured a snowman or a snowfort that was inevitably going to be in my future. I remember throwing on all of the necessities needed for a cold winter day. Then I would race for the door and swing it open, and in a split second, the ten-foot snow wall that was glued to the door would crash down on top of me. Nonetheless, I would jump up smiling, for I wasn't going to let anything stand in the way of me and that soon-to-be-built snowman. Little did I know at the time that that wasn't going to be my home for very long. When I was seven, my family moved us to Birmingham, and I haven't been back since. Not a lot of memories come back to me when I think of Colorado due to my young age then, but one I will never forget was how much I loved the snow. I cherish that one memory and replay it over and over again in hopes to never forget it. As a result of that being my favorite memory, winter became my favorite season.

    2. I think the way you related the season to a personal memory was great! I lived in Illinois at one point and remember all of the snow. I loved building snowmen when I was younger, too! (I still love building snowmen). I know how it feels to see the white sheets covering the grass and not having a care in the world except to build a snowmen! I loved hearing about your childhood memory!

  80. The hardest part of fall is accepting the cool weather. I am from Alabama, and I do not like to be cold. Once I can get past that, though, I absolutely adore the fall. Each month is a celebration. In September, my mom and I have our birthdays. In October, there's Halloween. In November, there's Thanksgiving. Then, of course, in the days leading up to December 21, there's the joy of the Christmas season. I always look forward to the time I get to spend with my family. We go to my grandmother's for Thanksgiving, and I get to see a lot of my extended family. Plus, during the fall, I get to see my friends at school. I love how everyone seems to pull together to get ready for the winter. Fall is the season for being grateful and giving, which is probably why I love it so much.

  82. Like most people, my favorite season is the summer. In the summer, I can relax by going to the beach or the pool. I don't have to go to school or do any work. Although I love the heat, my favorite holiday is Christmas. I love hot chocolate and snuggling up next to the fireplace with family. I don't like the cold, but it's really interesting to watch the colors change. I love it when the trees and sidewalks are covered with snow, and kids are playing outside. Although winter can have its advantages, summer is my favorite season because of the warm weather and relaxed days.

  83. Similar to Allen Nguyen, I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and I hate the scorching sun. My favorite season is winter. I would rather sit inside with my family wrapped in a blanket watching a movie with hot cocoa and a fire going. Although I love going outside to play, I don't like for it to be burning hot 24/7. I was practically raised in the north. After Hurricane Katrina, my family and I moved to New York which is an extremely cold place to live. After New York, I lived in Illinois where the reaction of the people there to a blizzard is casual. You would still go to school if there was a snowstorm. In the winter, our family comes together and gets closer than we would if it were summer because it's way too cold to go outside and we would rather be sitting in the heat. My dad always gets firewood during the cold seasons. While he puts a fire on, I make my boiling hot cocoa and grab a fuzzy, warm blanket and sit near the fire. I like to stare at the bright, glowing, hot flame. It's almost mesmerizing watching each individual spark fly up and fall as they become ashes. I love watching the logs crumble and fall as the fire burns the wood slowly and then all at once. My family and I sit around the fire with our hot beverages and blankets and just have family time. We talk about the good, funny, bad, and memorable times we have had in the past. We share laughs and watch movies together. Usually my aunt and uncle come with their daughter to Alabama because they want to see the snow. We play board games, the question game, and charades. If it snows, my sister and I have snowball fights. Every time she tries to throw snow at me, she ends up falling on black ice. (Which is hilarious--karma). I love sleeping and even a second more of sleep pleases me. Imagine a whole hour. On the plus side, my birthday is in the winter time, too. Winter is a season to get closer with your families and snuggle in a blanket with a fire and movies going. This is why I love the winter time.

  85. Winter is by far my favorite season. I grew up in northern Illinois, so winter was a good 6 months of the year. Most of my childhood memories were of winter, waking up in the morning and seeing the snow falling, building snowmen and coming inside to drink hot chocolate, watching movies wrapped up in blankets in front of the fireplace. I also love winter because my birthday is really close to Christmas, so I get lots of presents at once. One of my favorite things about winter growing up was waking up on my birthday/Christmas and seeing the snow falling outside and running downstairs to open presents with my family. Winter is such a cozy season filled with warmth. I love fall too because the leaves turn gold and brown and red and fall to the ground and it starts to get cold and I get to wear sweaters and hoodies and fuzzy socks. Fall is also a great season because Thanksgiving is during fall and Thanksgiving is all about eating good food and spending time with family. Although I love fall and winter, I enjoy summer too, just not nearly as much. Summer sucks because it's always so hot and it's really easy for me to get sunburned. But summer is fun most of the time because of things like no school, swimming, etc.

  86. I would have to say that summer is my favorite season because of all the great memories I have associated with it. During summer is when I have summer camp. I go to this camp called Hargis for a few months every year and it's just very cool to build relationships and spend so much time in the woods and outdoors. I also really like fall because of all the changing colors and the crunch of leaves when I step on them. I love fall because it feels cool without actually being cold. I also love spring because it is full of new beginnings and flowers bloom and trees bud and everywhere there is life. Even though winter is my least favorite season I still really love it because the cold makes everything seem sharper and clear. The winter is full of cold sunrises and watching your breath float away. Summer is warm excitement. Autumn is unprecedented change. Winter is cold clarity. Spring is beautiful beginnings. -Jennifer Broome

  87. I love the winter! I love the feeling of curling up by the fire with a good book, or getting all wrapped up in a blanket and watching a movie with some friends. I also enjoy the cold weather. You can just wake up, put on a sweatshirt, jeans, and boots, and you're ready for the day. Hot chocolate is another great thing about winter. I also LOVE snow! Last year was awesome with all the snow we got! The best part about winter is all the holidays. There is Christmas, Valentines Day, and my Birthday! I love these holidays because that is when all of my family gets together. Seeing my whole family is an amazing part of winter. So, if i had to choose a favorite season, it would be winter!

  91. I love the winter because its cold outside and you can enjoy the outdoors more without all the bugs during the summer. Even better after you are very cold and you are freezing from skiing and skating or even hiking outside, you can come home into a cozy nice fire read a book or gather yourself up in a blanket and drink some hot coco. Christmas is my favorite season with gifts and family. I enjoy the winter more with the cold sunrises and the beautiful snow landscapes with the footprints I see when looking outside the window. The nice enjoyments of winter I can throw a snowball at whoever I want to, and just walking or hiking on the snow is one of my favorite things to do.

  92. Winter is the worst season
the snow too cold, the sun never shines, snow men are ugly, and hot coco is gross
who would ever want to recieve presents for no good reason?
I prefer not to sit on old men's laps and tell them what I want most
now all of those things are true if you are a boring loser with no sense of correctness
    winter is the best season
the snow feels amazing, suns a dumb invention anyways, snow men are my only friends, and hot coco is life
I will take presents all day every day who needs a reason?
old decrepit men are some of the most knowledgeful people so they can have the knowledge of what I want for christmas even if they do not care

that is why winter is the best season
