A Weapon for Readers by Tim Parks | NYRblog | The New York Review of Books

A good idea spurred from this article plus memory of Great Expectations:

Have the kids each identify a few passages they would like to talk about in class for each reading. Then we can choose strategically or draw names from a hat.

Use after warming everyone up. I must reread every single time. Also check SparkNotes and Shmoop. Discuss naming each chapter and analyzing the text.

16 Things I Wish They Had Taught Me in School

enterghana.com - I am 28 now. I don't think about the past or regret things much these days.

But sometimes I wish that I had known some of things I have learned over the last few years a bit earlier. That perhaps there had been a self-improvement class in school. And in some ways there probably was.

This Is How Students Can Use Google Docs Real Time Collaboration

educatorstechnology.com - November 15, 2014 One of the best features that Google Docs provides to its users is real time collaboration. Students can use it to work on a writing project in the same time. Using this feature students will be able to see what each one has added to the document, access edits, and even carry on a little chat on the side of the document. The syncing process is quite seamless and instantaneous.

Tiny robotic scallops can swim through blood and eyeball fluid to fix you up

Engadget - For years now, scientists have been trying to develop microscopic robots that can swim through bodily fluids and repair damaged cells or deliver medicine. Now, a team of scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Germany believe they've got the perfect design -- in the form of scallops so small, they can barely be seen by the naked eye. These micro-robo-scallops move back and forth to swim through blood, eyeball fluids and other liquids inside our body. The scientists believe mimicking the way a true scallop swims is ideal, due to a number of reasons.

Writing formal papers -MLA style

Sent from Tosha Caston-Smith's iPadHey kids,

I'm seeing some wonderful work on the TED Talk summaries and responses, and I'm looking forward to returning them with feedback Monday or Tuesday. You make me want to watch all of them!

In case I forget to tell you, will you all make sure to double-space everything? Most of you didn't on this first typed response. No one is losing points for that this time.

Let's all just remember to double-space next time. Do it through formatting in the layout or by using this icon and selecting all of the paper including the heading.

Read Martin Niemoller's famous quote and the history behind it.

Now look again at Faber's regrets on p 78 where he says, "Mr. Montag, you are looking at a coward ... Now it' stood late" (Bradbury 78).
